Aims and objectives
Maestro AR for Partial Nephrectomy is an interactive educational tool developed in collaboration with Inderbir S. Gill, MD and Andrew J. Hung, MD, USC Keck School of Medicine, exclusively available on the dV-Trainer®.
The module presents the user with a 3D learning environment, combining footage from an actual case performed by Dr. Gill with Mimic’s proven MSim™ simulation platform. Using the dV-Trainer, trainees manipulate virtual 3D robotic instruments to interact with anatomical regions within the augmented 3D surgical video footage.
Maestro AR for Partial Nephrectomy takes trainees through the following steps:
- Colon mobilization
- Kocherization of duodenum
- Hilar dissection
- Completion of kidney mobilization
- Tumor excision and renorrhaphy
At periodic intervals, trainees must answer multiple choice questions in order to proceed through the module. Audio narration from Dr. Gill provides guidance through all five steps of the procedure. This course is limited to 1 participants per faculty.
Participants that want to register for this course must have performed the required minimum of 50 robot-assisted surgeries.
